INTRODUCTION:

We wish you a good day to each and everyone. On Oct.1st, 2011, Mark Anthony Jacobson became the first native artist in Canadian history to launch and publish an authorized and official catalogue raisonne of his known artworks to date, preceding that of either Norval Morrisseau and the N.M.H.S. (The Norval Morrisseau Heritage Society). We extend a warm welcome to the many friends, collectors, researchers, galleries, museums and other institutions both educational and otherwise worldwide to this authorized resource on Mark Anthony Jacobson artworks. This database will offer and ensure impeccable pedigree for each piece of Jacobson art, will be an excellent source of security from forgeries and will guarantee the authenticity of your various Mark Anthony Jacobson artworks by offering solid provenance and documentation which is found throughout this catalogue.

There will be many updates to this catalogue raisonne over time. So far, we have found a wide variety of many hundreds of Jacobson artworks and there are still about 800 pieces which we hope will be found that date from 1987 to 2010 and will be added to this database. In the meantime, please feel free to browse the many paintings, drawings, prints and other media which the artist has created. This database will continue to grow with images and stories to his artworks from the past, to the present new updates of his latest works, and the future of newly discovered treasures. We thank you for expressing your interest in collecting, marketing, and educating yourselves about the art and legacy of one of Canada's most exciting shamanistic woodland artists. All our relations. Added note: You can click on any image of an artwork for a bigger view. To scroll the next pages throughout this database: At the bottom of each page, click "Older Posts" for pg.'s 2, 3, 4, and etc. Thank you

NOTES

Painting was created for a lovely family I know who have been collecting my work for a while now. The painting is a reflection of the sacredness of the family unit. A crest so to speak.

The eagles represent the visionary within us all. They mate for life, eagles so, loyalty is a strong principle for this visionary. The birds reflect the songs and beauty of Mother Earth, that it is good medicine to live right with our earth Mother. The moose represents the provisions being shared by creation. It is important for future generations to know this, to live in harmony with our relatives upon her. All my relations, MAJ

NOTES
The story: The thunderbirds are guardians and protectors of those ways we hold sacred. We are not to be messed around with. To piss off a thunderbird isn't a good thing.

Any how, our alignments with the spiritual realms are known to be a true blessing. We are messengers and story tellers of things from the past, present and even future....prophecy.

We are visionaries amongst the human tribes. Many of us....artists.

I wanted to honour the bonds of true friendship I have in my life. My upper circle I call it. My trusted brothers and sisters of the spirit. They know who they are.

For each of you I say to your soul: chi-meegwetch for being my friend, working through life issues, complications and other various personality conflicts that arise out of them. For those who have stayed loyal: I love you. To those who couldn't get over themselves? I'll always love you.

Sometimes people come around for a little while, a long while and then there are those who remain for the rest of your life. To all of you it is a blessing that our souls have crossed paths. May the spirit of our Creator continue to guide and watch over each and everyone of you.

The powers of the spirit are alive and well. Ask and you will receive. The Creator is always there.....waiting patiently and lovingly.....desiring always to connect. Like thunderbird medicine, so is this rarity of finding the truest of friendships in my life, and wishing that for each of you as well.

All my relations....MAJ

NOTES
Here's the story: Times are rapidly changing upon our earth mother. The animal kingdoms better understand this, than us. They are directly effected by everything we do.

In this painting the great buffalo is being shown as the buffalo represent Abundance. They are life givers like our women, They also provide like our men, for the family unit. They show courage, strength and determination throughout the elements.

The deer clan teach us patience yet the importance of movement, of being flexible throughout life. They show us that to walk gently upon our earth Mother is the way.

We also see coyote being shown within the buffalo. This important understanding reflects the need to be self honest about our actions. That we need not play the great trick on ourselves. We must be prudent and focused for the time is now.

We have the clan of the crane being represented here as well for crane teaches us to take the leadership role. We must continue to take the lead in each of our lives. Crane medicine is essential for all lives here are dependent on our actions.

We also see the fish inside the crane, this shows the sacred cycles of life, that all things are truly interconnected.

The great turtle is a reflection of our Mother Earth, that she is the care taker of us humans and the rest of life upon her. The frog clan teaches us the importance of rising our voices. To share with one another our songs, our hopes, dreams and visions. Frog is also duel elemental that it lives on both land and in water. That these sacred powers must be respected.

We also have the butterflies and dragonflies being shown. This medicine of nature shows us the importance of our thoughts, feelings and actions. That we must continue to unify ourselves and the rest of humanity. This is our goal. To live in harmony with nature.

Butterfly also teaches the importance of the cycles of change that happen in our lives. That with the spiritual way, the way of the land, is in right alignment with our destiny. The future is now, the moment is always ours. This is what the animal clan council wishes to reflect to us at this crucial and pivotal point in our collective preservation as a whole....for we are all one.

Chi-meegwetch and all our relations,

Painting signifies the power of the water clans. That our water upon this earth Mother, must be looked after for ourselves here and now, and in the many future generations to come. NOTES

All souls know who I am (tribute to our Creator) here's the story:

The inspiration for this painting was to give absolute honour to the great spirit, the ultimate holy master artist and most high genius Creator of the Universe, of the heavens and the earth. It is such a true privilege and most sacred honour to have found the ability within me to try to capture this portrait of our maker.

Just a glimpse indeed, a moment of revelation of the mysterious ways in which our Creator is our true author. My desire was to give the greatest respect I could through this humble painting of mine. So, as you can see at the base of this painting, there is what appears to be souls moving and entering through the teepee. I wanted to reflect the stars, galaxies and the universe at the teepee doorway. This is where in the place before we are born into human bodies, our Creator assigns each of us the glorious gift of the human life experience. This is where it is my belief that we have made arrangements to be born into the various family bloodlines that we are born from, our mothers and fathers are thus chosen.

This is because of the various experiences we desire to learn from, the gifts and life lessons we embrace through the sequences of the human d.n.a. found in all these family bloodlines that we are born into.

Above the teepee poles in the chest of the human figure (our Creator in human like form) are the main religions of the world being represented. Going counter clock wise, you see the medicine wheel, the 4 colours of man being represented for all First Nations. Then the cross of Christianity, then the crescent moon with star for the religion of Islam. Next is the symbol for Sikhism, then the symbol for Hinduism, above that the Star of David for Judaism, then centre is the Egyptian eye of ra, the all seeing eye. I did this to show that all aspects of faith can be used as sources of learning and inspiration for the living human spiritual experience. Our Creator will always be the author of inspiration and will use any means necessary for hopeful spiritual contact and divine connection. The golden key has always been through choice. Our Creator doesn't need to impinge upon our own sovereignty. Invitation is always warmly responded to. The choice is ours. This is the highest honour of free will.

The 4 birds represent our connection to the sacred element of the life giving powers of the air. The eternal ties to being a mother and father and all children on our planet. Also on the front of the teepee are the symbols of the heart for everything is created in love. You also see a grandfather chief peyote button being represented above the heart, to give sacred honour and respect for the plant medicines of our Mother Earth. The sacred peyote is known as taking part in the flesh of God. A holy sacrament in expanding our spiritual experiences and deepening our relationships to the interconnectedness of the divine.

Sitting on the left side (the arm) of our Creator is the majestic eagle, representing the visionary within us all, in every man, woman and child we are blessed to create in thoughts, feelings and actions. To dream and the empowerment to achieve these various dreams that each of us envision. The gift of sharing our own uniqueness with one another. On the right side (the other arm area) is the spirit of the wolf clan being represented. The wolf teaches loyalty amongst the family clan. This is where we learn our various life lessons through the family bloodlines and with the rest of humanity in our friendships and relationships with each other.

There are 4 fish being represented as well. This concept gives respect for the 4 cycles of life through the sacred element of water. The different stages of life from childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. The 4 cycles of birth, life, death and rebirth. At the top of the painting are the symbols of our continual ties to the rhythms of the sun and the moon. The male and female aspects of existence. Finally I gave a portrait of our Creator being crowned in a halo of universal energy, to represent the eternal flow of manna, chi, the vibrations of creativity as I see it, the very blueprint of all life and it's consciousness from the past, to this present and the future. It was and is one of the greatest honours for me as an artist, to give my devotion and and praise to our Creator, through this little painting of mine. With eternal love and respect, I thank you very much. All my relations, Mark Anthony Jacobson - Rainbow Thunderbird 2016

the storyline is that it is a power painting of my First Nations roots as an Ojibway. Also, my spirit name is being reflected in this piece which is rainbow thunderbird. There's medicine being represented of the sun, lightening, thunder and rain, which creates rainbow medicine, the spiritual bridge between heaven and earth. There's a sweatlodge being shown in the wing, to represent the womb of Mother Earth, where rebirth, cleansing and divine connection to our Creator and the ancestors take place. The bird figures represent our ties to the air elementals. The fish to the water and its sacred life giving powers throughout the 4 folds of destiny, birth, life, death and rebirth. NOTES
Story for paintings: It is a privilege and honor to give a voice to our animal relations. The vision was inspired by the intricate relationships that all of creation has with each other. All these things are interconnected. Our own survival is dependant on proper management of the earths resources. The spirit of Mother Earth knows this. As we trudge the road of future destiny, we must realize that in order to continue moving forward as a human species, we must look after all aspects of creation much better. We live in a time where every action has significant reaction. The safe guarding of the natural resources are our duty to not only look after for our current generation, but indeed for future generations. We must take this lead. Creation is patiently waiting for our collective response. The time is now. Our ties that bind with the animal kingdom are surely on guard. The spirits of our ancestry are keen to see change. We have a responsibility to our selves, to one another and to the spirit of life itself. These animal clans are waiting, their own survival depends on us. The elements are changing, they are speaking in signs and symbols. NOTES
Painting was a commission for Dr. Lennon in 2003. The concept was to signify the importance of the transformative powers within nature. The life giving energy of the moose and how its resources are used to empower the tribe, or family. The butterfly symbolizes this transformation and change. We must always find the gratitude for nature and her provisions. All my relations, MAJ

NOTES
Painting was executed to give honor and respect to all women for their life giving power and medicine. I particularly desired to give special attention to those women who have embarked upon the spirit path, to heal others, to serve through their knowledge and insights into the various earth medicines that we all have come to rely on. These plant kingdoms and the very elements themselves are divine. We must continue to preserve these understandings through sharing, caring and helping to nurture and heal one another. The women who travel these spirit paths, they know this. They live it each and every day. Chi meegwetch and all my relations, MAJ

NOTES
The concept/story to this 3 piece set: A new collector of my works recently travelled to Iceland. He was highly moved by the glaciers and icebergs upon this journey. He is also a huge fan of our woodland school of art, in which I am a guardian of, asked by Norval himself before he passed on, to help in protecting his legacy and that of our woodland art ancestors. His request upon this commissioned piece was to reflect these concerns, passion and love for these beings (glaciers and icebergs). It was a challenging process none the less, as artists know and understand, our wish to execute with precision and to essentially target the goal at hand. Another stirring reality to this painting is the very fact of global warming as the direct result of our behaviour upon this earth, we all call home. This reality of the earth's glaciers dying off is a major and serious problem, for all earths creations. We must take the lead, this current generation of souls that we are to shift our actions. We must or those being born here, over the next 7 generations will experience devastating consequences. The time for change is now, not in the future. We must find a healthier way as a species to help protect and conserve for our future generations. The water in all of its forms is telling us, to pay attention. Listen to how the 4 elements are speaking. We are entering a period where those in whom we love, our family, children, the animals, birds,  fish and all other aspects of creation are giving us signs. These glacier powers are changing. They are teaching us that the time for collective change is now. It is an honor to speak through this painting, on their behalf, on behalf of everything connected to the sacred power of our water....all my relations, MAJ

NOTES
This painting is a significant reminder of our relationships with creation and our connection to our earth mother. I believe that we each have a specific and unique relationship with all these things, the earth, air, water and fire. These elemental spirits as I have come to know them are guides for inner strength and direction with regard to finding our purpose. Creation has a wisdom inherent in its paradigms. It is and shall always be a great privilege and honor to have this unique understanding and knowledge of these ways. To wake up each day, to give thanks for these blessings. This painting is a visual appreciation and sincere token of these ways and teachings. I thank you, all my relations, MAJ

NOTES
Here is the story: So, a Thunderbird shaman came from the west coast mountains embarking upon a return filled with creative ambition. You can say that a reunion was amidst amongst old souls that go way way back. Upon this visit, a revelation on many levels took place. Truth and reconciliation in the mightiness of the holy spirit of all creation, forever creating….and so it is. I stood on the new found shores of the forever extending Universe with my friend and his family. A shamans portrait one would suppose taken above the great Nanabijou as many understand it up there in Thunder Bay Ont. So, in deep contemplation we stood and seen a great vision, a vision to empompass this dynasty. From one generation to the next - the Hanley/Brandford family crest. Mother and father are protected and adopted into the Thunderbird clan, as the direct result of the gifts associated with my spirit name - Rainbow Thunderbird. The husband - Joey, offers his wife Elyssa, a gift from the branch of the tree of life and his 3 children Jacob, Presten and Scarlett. She, the mother has given birth to 3 boys named Saturday, Joey and Wondur. Miracle souls graced upon this planet as intelligent designs of spirit/life experience. Honored by the 4 blood moons this year of 2015, or better known as the tetrads, highly symbolic of marking such a significant time upon her, our mother earth. Thus the 6 fish represent portals into other worlds as symbolized by the transformative powers of water, old and wise "elder elemental wisdom spirit". The "teepee bones" you see were in my good chums back yard, a marker of time well spent in the Hanley household. Teachings and blessings were to be had and much wisdom for preparation for next plateau experience were shared. In the divine light of the grand architect, the most holy of creative powers…The Creator Spirit. All my relations, MAJ
